Chazak in the Rebbe’s Room This late December Shabbos, with students away on break, we had opportunity to spend a quiet getaway family Shabbos in Crown Heights with Raizy’s parents and 5/8 of our kids (the other 3 at the Jewish Girls Winter Retreat upstate).   In Rebbe Nachman’s time, it wasn’t uncommon for children to be married off in their early teens. The Rebbe himself was married soon after his bar mitzvah on Rosh Chodesh Nisan (Ma ), and on his wedding day, he acquired his first : Yehudis Golshevsky.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, visited the Ohel, the Brooklyn gravesite of the venerated Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson (whose name is often accompanied by the abbreviation “zt”l,” or zichrono tzadik livracha, Hebrew for “may the memory of the righteous be a blessing”). Hasidic literature abounds with stories describing the deathbed experiences of many Hasidic Rebbes [Masters]. These stories are often very detailed and show how many Rebbes made the transition from physical plane life with a sense of equanimity and calm. There were some Rebbes able to describe the visions they witnessed as death approached.

He was the subject of an article in the Yizkor Book; his daughter Mrs. Lipman from Milwaukee WI is mentioned by Neville Lamdan as a correspondent about life in the near-Lyakhovichi-community of Ved'ma in the article on Joshua Meir Mandel elsewhere on the Lyakhovichi website. Sources of information: Hayom Yom has a section on the children of all the Lubavitcher Rebbes. Any Chabad House would have a copy of this book. It is available in English also. In Israel there is a book called sefer Tzezoim and this book published in Hebrew list the many thousands of descendants of the Alter Rebbe.; Another book of interest regarding the SLONIM's is called Scattered Seeds.
